My name is Duv Cardenas (first name pronounced Dove, like the bird) and I’m an athlete, horsewoman, and adventurer. I do sports, equine, and active lifestyle photography and am located in Ione, California (45 miles southeast of Sacramento).  As a professional photographer, I anticipate action and decisively photograph the drive, skill, grit, and intensity of athletes and active people.

I was born in Santa Cruz, raised in Lake County, and left there for college when I was seventeen years old.  At Sacramento State, I completed and Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology (Athletic Training) and a Master of Science in Kinesiology (Exercise Physiology).  I used my education in science and injury prevention for a loosely related career in State government.

Recreationally, I was always involved in and photographing action and sports.  Racing jet skis, I was a National Champion and ranked 10th in the world in Pro-Am Women’s class.  My husband and I would photograph during the races, and these were published in the American Power Boat Association magazine, Fly Racing/Western Powersports catalogs, and, more recently, ProRider magazine.
A few years ago, I left my government job and started my personal renaissance. I realized I could combine my love of photography with my passion for sports, adventure, and life! When I’m not photographing, I ride and train our horses and do ranch work, ride and race jet skis, and enjoy the outdoors.
